iSaloni 2019

Milan Furniture Salon

Since 2006, when I first arrived here, I have been trying not to miss this most important event for interior designers. This is my tenth visit to the exhibition, so I will tell you not only about it, but also about the recent trends.

The main furniture exhibition takes place every year in April, but light and kitchens exhibitions alternate and take place every other year. It's an odd year now and this year Euroluce, the light exhibition, is taking place.

The proportions are visible on the plan – the furniture occupies three quarters of the area and is divided into modern (Design), classic (Classic) and from fashion brands (xLux)

Riva 1920 factory has always been setting trends – they brought transparent resin with wood into fashion, and now brutal experiments have led to the appearance of a channel shelf in the table.

Attention to detail – this was typical of high-level factories before, but now it's nice to look at the little things on an increasing number of stands, even from manufacturers in the middle price category.

The increasing involvement of fashion and automotive brands in the world of furniture is dictated by the growing demand from China and India. In general, it is very interesting to look at the tastes of which nations and why the offer is being rebuilt. I will try to write about it soon.

Bruno Zampa. Thoughtful details, high–quality materials - everything justifies its status and price.

Vitra factory that has wonderfully decorated stands every year.

There were a lot of atmospheric projects. Here is the interior from Calligaris

There is a reviving fashion for transformers, and you can find solutions for any of the rooms: from nurseries and bedrooms to offices and kitchens

The trends of light manufacturers are similar: the use of brass and bronze, the Art Deco style is for suspended models, and for built-in experiments with the shapes of profiles and what is attached to them.

Yes, the technical light goes to the Chinese and there are few built-in models at the exhibition, as well as a variety of "cylinders". But Europeans still have the best technologies, and most importantly the design. On the other hand, in six months we will see all this already in Shanghai…
